About Black Holly Gardens
At Black Holly Gardens, each remedy begins with a deep respect for the plants themselves. Every tincture, tea, and formula is crafted by hand in small batches using plants that are naturally grown, ethically foraged, or sourced from trusted organic growers.
These remedies are created with care to support both the immediate concern and the overall balance of the body. Each formula is designed to bring comfort and help people reconnect with the natural rhythms that support health and well-being.
At the heart of Black Holly Gardens is a belief that plants are more than ingredients, they are living partners that communicate, respond, and share their gifts.
About Me
Hello, my name is Jeff Calhoun. For over twenty years, I’ve been learning from and working with plants, beginning with natural gardening and permaculture and expanding into herbal medicine, plant identification, and foraging.
I’m a certified Community Herbalist and Organic Master Gardener, and I’ll complete my Master Clinical Herbalist certification in May. My journey with herbal medicine began at 21, when I first turned to dandelion to help with kidney stones. That experience showed me the quiet yet powerful ways plants can support us.
In my practice, I treat plants as sentient beings and aim to build real relationships with them, beyond simply harvesting or using them for medicine. I believe each plant has its own character and voice, and that part of my role as an herbalist is to find the right plant for each person.
Herbal medicine, to me, is about connection and empowerment, giving people the tools and confidence to care for themselves with the support of the natural world.
